Netflix Unveils Trailer for Hijack ’93, Premiering October 25
Ahead of its release, Netflix has unveiled official trailer for Hijack ’93, a historical thriller directed by Robert O. Peters. The captivating trailer offers glimpse of the fictional retelling inspired by the 1993 hijacking of a Nigerian Airways flight by a group of teenagers.
Going by the moving scenes captured in the almost 2 minutes trailer, the film’s premiere on the streaming platform appears set to take viewers on a fascinating journey come October 25, 2024, giving many exciting opportunity to enjoy the thrills of the historical masterpiece.
Produced by Play Network Studios in collaboration with Native Media TV, the upcoming title features an impressive cast of Nollywood stars. The all-star cast includes Efa Iwara, Bob Manuel, John Dumelo, Sharon Ooja, Nancy Isime, and Jemima Osunde.
It also introduces newcomers Adam Garba, Allison Emmanuel, Oluwaseyi Akinola, and Nnamdi Agbo, as the hijackers. Building on the success of previous Play Network films such as Blood Vessel, Glamour Girls, Hijack ‘93 highlights Netflix’s dedication to showcasing authentic Nigerian stories.
About Hijack 93: In an effort to dismantle their military-backed government, four men hijack an airplane, leveraging passengers onboard in the name of social change.
Emphasising the importance of retelling such pivotal story, producer and co-founder of Play Network Studios, noted that such events are essential to our nation’s history and must be shared with future generations.
“These pivotal events, which shaped our nation’s history, risk being forgotten over time. As a filmmaker, my goal is to preserve and share authentic African stories with a global audience,” Okpaleke added.
