Edge Awards Honour Henry Akpede as Nigeria’s Top Creative Advertising Personality

The 2024 Edge Awards have recognised Henry Akpede, Country Manager and Chief Creative Officer of Ogilvy Nigeria, as a trailblazer in the advertising industry, presenting him with the prestigious Outstanding Creative Advertising Personality of the Year award. This is in recognition of his visionary leadership, creative ingenuity, and significant contributions to the advertising and marketing communications industry.

A seasoned strategist with nearly two decades of experience, Akpede is renowned for his innovative approach to brand development and storytelling. Throughout his illustrious career, he has collaborated with top creatives across Africa, Europe, America, and beyond, driving award-winning campaigns for brands like Coca-Cola, Heineken, MTN, Airtel, Samsung, PZ, UBA, and Flour Mills of Nigeria, among many others.

Nicknamed the “Nigerian Prince of Advertising” by his global colleagues, Akpede’s creative business approach and guidance from the Group CEO Mr. Seni Adetu, has earned Ogilvy Nigeria the title of the fastest-growing Business Unit in Ogilvy Africa. His leadership has helped the agency achieve notable successes and recognitions under his belt. His work has consistently raised the bar for creative excellence in Nigeria’s advertising sector.

In addition to the Edge Award, Henry has previously been recognized with the AAAN Trailblazer Award and named the Creative Advertising Practitioner of the Year by The Industry in 2023.

Akpede’s tenure at Ogilvy has been marked by a string of accomplishments, earning the agency a top-five spot among the most awarded at the LAIF Awards. His role in transforming Ogilvy Nigeria into a powerhouse of creativity has earned him the moniker “The Nigerian Prince of Advertising” among his global peers.
