Our Goal is to simplify Shopping Convenience with Shoplivery’- Entrepreneur, Abraham Bassey
Nigerian serial entrepreneur, Abraham Bassey, known for his long-standing contributions to the entertainment industry, is breaking new ground in the tech space. Bassey, who has worked with top global celebrities such as Akon, Ciara, and Burna Boy, has now turned his focus to transforming the digital delivery space with his new app, Shoplivery. The app, which allows users to access and shop from local neighborhood stores in real-time, also integrates a delivery system, ensuring a seamless shopping experience.
“We focus on saving people’s time,” said Bassey, emphasizing that the app enables consumers to purchase goods at exact retail prices and have them delivered to their location. He continued, “From the comfort of your mobile phone with a data subscription, you can walk in and buy anything from any shop with ease.” Bassey’s entrepreneurial journey began in entertainment, where he spent over a decade managing events, talents, and creative projects. His passion for innovation and problem-solving, however, led him into tech. “Honestly, working on a tech project is not a small task,” he said. “We always have to figure out updates, work on features, and make sure people are hitting their deadlines.” Despite the unpredictability of daily operations, Bassey says the challenges are what keep him motivated. “No two days are ever alike for us. It’s cool because it kind of keeps us on our toes.
” Bassey’s inspiration for Shoplivery came from a personal experience. He recalled a time when a friend lost a business contract due to delays caused by Lagos traffic. “That’s when the need came up, out of that condition, the Shop-delivery name was birthed,” Bassey said. His partner, Adonija Owiriwa, has been an integral part of the venture. “My co-founder and I have been business partners for over a decade,” Bassey shared, praising Owiriwa’s expertise in entertainment, film, and oil and gas. Bassey is optimistic about the future of Shoplivery, stating that it offers a unique proposition in the crowded shopping app market. “We already have over 1,000 downloads in just three months without any ads,” he noted. The app’s rebranding to Version 2.0, which includes automatic inventory updates, is expected to further streamline the user experience. “It’s indigenous, it’s new, it’s rebranding to Version 2.0 where store inventory updates are automatic on the app.” Reflecting on the demands of being a founder, Bassey noted, “As an early-stage founder, it’s a never-ending sprint. You’re sprinting 24/7.
Even if you’re on a break, you’re kind of not.” However, his passion for both entertainment and tech keeps him grounded. “I manage talents too as a result of my love for music, while planning to host my music podcast show; it’s a fun way to decompress for two or three hours,” he said. Bassey’s transition from entertainment to tech hasn’t been without its hurdles, but his resilience and commitment have paid off. “Being in tech means you need to show up and you need to kill it,” he remarked. “We need to work harder and prove to ourselves and to other people that we belong here.” For Bassey, his platform represents more than just convenience—it’s about transforming lives. “With My Shoplivery, you essentially become a savior in a person’s life because they are giving you the ability to stay wherever you are and still run your shopping errands for the day,” he said.
As he looks to the future, Bassey remains focused on growth and innovation. “We’ve always been fascinated to launch in the US, UK, and Japan, but we must first start in Africa,” he added. With his entrepreneurial drive and forward-thinking approach, Abraham Bassey is poised to make a lasting impact in both the tech and entertainment industries.
