Awuzie: We’ll turn Nigerian youths into cele-brains Through Big Brain Naija
Nigerian South African-based technology entrepreneur and Executive Producer of the Big Brain Naija reality television show, Charles Awuzie, has said that the mission of the TV show is to celebrity the intelligence and creativity of Nigerian youths through an informative, entertainment show.
Awuzie, CEO of Gemsbok Group and convener of the Evolve X Conference, recently made this known in Calaba during the unveiling of the TV show.
He stated that Big Brain Naija is a programme aimed at redeeming the Nigerian youth by harnessing their talent and creativity, and that is why it is tagged cele-brain, not just celebrity.
“Cele-brains symbolise the stars of the show, embodying the fusion of celebrity allure with intellectual genius, and creating icons of entertainment and intellectual prowess. Big Brain Naija seeks to unveil Africa’s next celebrity geniuses,” he said.
He described the TV show as content that parents will be proud to watch with their children, adding, “A society that celebrates big brains will have more big brains that will create big solutions and that is what we need in Nigeria of today.
Chairman of the board of directors of the BB9ja reality TV project and chairman of the senate committee on capital market and institutions, Senator Osita Izunaso, described the TV show as an innovative initiative that will spotlight young minds who possess the drive to excel, not just in academic, but also in creativity, critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
The Chief Operating Officer (COO) of the Big Brain Naija project, Ossai Ilome, noted that the TV show seeks “Nigeria’s brightest minds to transform groundbreaking ideas into global brands and position Nigeria as a global hub for innovation and talent.”
The Big Brain Naija reality TV show will be open to 36 Nigerian contestants across the country, aged 18-55.
The show will feature 36 episodes including comedy and roasters, infotainment, games, talent shows, pitch sessions, a food show, a genius day, and a one-day president, among others.
Awuzie noted that Big Brain Naija will be a pre-recorded show aired on satellite and online video streaming platforms.
He added that they will develop web and mobile applications to grant viewers access to vote and comment on the various episodes of the show.
