Sochitel, Mobihealth to Enhance Healthcare Access in Nigeria Through Digital Solutions
Sochitel and Mobihealth International have partnered to enhance healthcare access in underserved markets and communities in Nigeria and Africa through cross-border payment solutions for affordable telehealth services.
According to the announcement, which was made on Thursday in Lagos, the partnership will leverage Sochitel’s digital prepaid infrastructure and 300 million customer base integrated with 70 banks across 30 countries to facilitate transactions for Mobihealth’s telemedicine services.
They added that the solution will enable patients and their families to easily access quality healthcare, especially in localities and regions where traditional financial systems are lacking.
The partners announced that the partnership will expand access to healthcare through Mobihealth’s telemedicine platform accessible through Sochitel’s cross-border, digital prepaid user-friendly payment system.
Furthermore, the partners stated that the partnership will promote financial inclusion by offering prepaid solutions to unbanked and underbanked populations, thereby supporting local economies and promoting healthier communities.
Dr Funmi Adewara, founder and CEO of Mobihealth, stated that they are thrilled to partner with Sochitel to enhance our service offerings and improve healthcare access for underserved communities.
Adewara added, “The partnership aligns with our mission to leverage technology to provide essential health services and empower individuals to take charge of their health.”
She noted that Mobihealth ─ as a telemedicine company committed to transforming healthcare access by integrating telehealth into primary care ─ empowers individuals to take charge of their health, drives economic inclusion, and improves health outcomes in Nigeria and Africa.
Adewara further noted that the partnership between Sochitel and Mobihealth represents a significant step towards leveraging technology to reshape healthcare access and financial services.
She stated that the partnership will boost Mobihealth’s premium revenue, and encourage diaspora Nigerians to sponsor family members’ healthcare at home and use the service as a means to strengthen dollar revenue and curb the devaluation of the naira.
Mr Jerry Ejikeme, CEO of Sochitel, said that working with Mobihealth allows them to extend their digital prepaid solutions into the healthcare sector, which is crucial for driving financial inclusion and improving lives.
Ejikeme noted that Sochitel is dedicated to enhancing financial access and inclusion for underserved communities by simplifying financial transactions, driving economic growth, and enabling individuals and businesses to thrive in the digital economy.
He stressed that they are committed to social impact and the development of solutions that bridge financial divides and support local economies.
“Together, we can create a sustainable model for healthcare access that addresses the unique challenges faced by populations in emerging markets,” Ejikeme said.
