Mega Lifesciences Launches We Care App to Support Diabetes Management

In line with its Good Health By Yourself Initiative, Mega Lifesciences has launched its groundbreaking WeCare Diabetes App, a first-of-its-kind digital solution designed to provide real-time support for diabetes management.

This innovative mobile app offers patients in Nigeria the tools to monitor their condition, track blood glucose levels, and access professional health coaching—all from the convenience of their smartphones.

The app was officially unveiled at the 45th Annual General Meeting and Scientific Conference of the Endocrine and Metabolism Society of Nigeria (EMSON) in Abeokuta, Ogun State.

Themed Diabetes & Technology, the event brought together leading healthcare professionals and endocrinologists to explore digital innovations in managing diabetes. A Mega Lifesciences-sponsored symposium used the platform to demonstrate the app’s potential to advance diabetes care, particularly in resource-limited settings.

Key stakeholders from Mega Lifesciences were present at the launch, including Pharm. Ibukun Adetuyi, Mr. Amit Singh Raguvanshy, Dr. Binu Joy, and Mr. Maneesh Mehra, Managing Director of Mega Lifesciences West Africa.

During his speech, Mr. Mehra emphasised the critical role technology plays in reshaping healthcare delivery. “At Mega Lifesciences, we are leveraging technology to improve healthcare access.

The WeCare Diabetes App is more than just a digital tool—it’s a comprehensive solution that empowers patients to take an active role in managing their diabetes and improving their health outcomes,” he said.

Mr. Amit Singh provided further insights into the app’s functionality, explaining that it allows users to log daily glucose readings, track trends, and receive personalized health coaching.

He noted: “This app is designed to be intuitive and user-friendly, making it easy for patients to manage their diabetes effectively.”

Dr. Binu Joy, CEO of Health@Home, the digital division of Mega Lifesciences, highlighted the app’s ability to provide personalized, data-driven care.

“The WeCare Diabetes App aims to close the gap in diabetes management by offering real-time guidance and allowing patients to connect directly with healthcare providers, whether in urban centers or remote areas,” says Binu. “This platform enables us to personalize care in a way that was previously difficult to achieve.”

Consultant Endocrinologist at Ladoke Akintola University of Technology Teaching Hospital, Prof. Michael Olamoyegun, addressed the broader significance of the app in overcoming healthcare barriers in Nigeria.

He said: “In remote areas, many patients lack consistent access to care. The WeCare Diabetes App bridges that gap by empowering patients to manage their health independently while allowing healthcare professionals to provide more personalised treatment based on real-time data.”

The launch of the WeCare Diabetes App marks an important step in Mega Lifesciences’ efforts to enhance diabetes care through technology.
By equipping patients and healthcare providers with a powerful, accessible tool, the app enables better health outcomes for people living with diabetes in Nigeria and beyond.
