Award Winning Author Canvasses Improved Children’s Reading Culture

Award winning author, Bolaji Ajayi, has called for improvement in children’s reading culture.

She stated that this is important for their cognitive, emotional and social growth.

She opined that technology has provided amazing opportunities for learning, and platforms like eBooks and audiobooks that make it easier for children to access stories in different formats.

The best selling author also appealed to the management of educational systems and other educators in Nigeria and other developing countries to ensure integration of local culture and history into curriculum in a more engaging way.

According to her, too often, children are educated using systems and content that don’t reflect their realities or heritage.

She canvassed for more educational materials—whether textbooks, digital tools, or storybooks—that are rooted in local narratives and traditions.

According to her, by incorporating the nation’s and continent’s folklore, heroes, and history into the learning process, education would have beenmade more relatable and inspiring for young learners.
