Foundation Expands Healthcare Access for Underserved Communities

The Well-Life Foundation, a newly established healthcare organisation, is making strides in improving healthcare services in underserved communities across Nigeria.

Founded in 2024 by Dr. Yakub Sime, a seasoned gynecologist and obstetric surgeon with over 20 years of experience, the foundation aims to provide holistic healthcare while addressing gaps in the country’s medical system.

Previously established in 2017, Well-Life Hospital laid the groundwork for the foundation’s mission. Now, the Well-Life Foundation specialises in women’s health and infertility treatment, while also expanding its reach to focus on primary healthcare, preventive health education, capacity building, and infrastructure development.

According to Sime, “Our vision has always been to ensure that no one is left behind when it comes to accessing quality medical care. The Well-Life Foundation is our way of giving back to the community.”

His work goes beyond just treating patients. As a member of the West African College of Surgeons and the International Fertility Society, he has successfully performed over 2,000 surgeries.

His expertise in assisted reproductive technologies has brought hope to many couples struggling with infertility.

The Well-Life Foundation’s outreach programs hope to make a significant impact, offering free medical services to rural areas. “Healthcare should not be a luxury. Whether in the city or the most remote village, every person deserves access to proper medical care. That is our mission,” he emphasised.

In addition to its medical services, the Well-Life Foundation also focuses on training healthcare professionals, ensuring they are equipped with the latest skills and knowledge.

Through various capacity-building programmes, the foundation works to strengthen healthcare infrastructure in underserved regions.

Sime believes in empowering healthcare workers to deliver the best care possible by building their capacity, improving individual lives, and strengthening the entire healthcare system.

The foundation’s dedication to preventive healthcare is another key component of its mission. Educational programs on topics such as maternal health, nutrition, and disease prevention will be regularly conducted in local communities.

“Prevention is the best cure. If we can educate people about healthy living and early detection, we can save countless lives,” Sime added.

In the future, the foundation plans to continue expanding its services, with a focus on advocating for policy changes that promote better healthcare access for all.

Under his leadership, the Well-Life Foundation remains committed to its core values of compassion, innovation, and service to humanity.
