Ooni @50: Afenifere Visits Oba Ogunwusi, Celebrates his Golden Jubilee
…as the group delivers goodwill message from Pa Ayo Adebanjo.
The pan-Nigeria sociopolitical group, Afenifere has paid a courtesy visit to the Ooni of Ife, Oba Enitan Adeyeye Ogunwusi, Ojaja II on the occasion of his golden jubilee birthday celebration.
The Afenifere, led by its Deputy Leader, HRH Oba Oladipo Olaitan were at Oonirisa palace, Ile-Ife, to felicitate with His Imperial Majesty and to convey a hearty goodwill messages from the Afenifere National Leader, Chief Ayo Adebanjo to the Ooni of Ife, as he clocks the golden age of 50.
The delegation to the palace include Chief Supo Shonibare; Senator Kofoworola Bucknor Akerele; Balogun Akin Osuntokun; Engineer Adebayo Adenekan; Mrs Toyin Falade; Mr Olusegun Babalola and Prince Justice Faloye, National Publicity Secretary, Afenifere among others.
Oonirisa, Ogunwusi was delighted by the visit, and during the interaction with the visiting group, recounted the history of the relationship stool and Afenifere.
He implored the elders and leaders of Afenifere to get more youths into group to continue the tradition of selfless service to humanity and for the good of the society.
Oba Ogunwusi, speaking in Yoruba, said: “Orisas ti a ba Fi han omode, o ma parun,” translated to, “an Orisa not passed down to the younger generation will perish.”
Meanwhile, HRH Oba Oladipo Olaitan in his goodwill message, wished Oonirisa more years on the throne, stressing that his benevolent and cultural leadership including service to humanity will remain an indelible mark in the anals of Yoruba history and society in general.
