UK-Nigeria Tech Hub, Host Compliance Training for Tech-enabled Startups

The UK-Nigeria Tech Hub, in collaboration with Golborne Road Advisory (GRA), successfully hosted a two-day Regulatory and Compliance School on October 21 and 22, 2024.

This initiative aims to equip Nigerian startups with essential tools to navigate the complex regulatory landscape, contributing to a more robust entrepreneurial ecosystem.

A statement from the organisation read, “This event marked the joint second and third cohorts of the project, following the success of the inaugural cohort held earlier this year.

“A diverse group of 30 representatives from various sectors, including Transportation, Financial Services, FMCG, and Healthcare, attended the school, fostering a rich exchange of knowledge and experience.

“Day one featured insights from industry experts such as Adeleke Alex-Adedipe from DOA Law, Amaka Chinwendu-Enechi from Cadbury, Temitope Adenaike from Coronation Group, Yanmo Omorogbe from Bamboo, Faruq Abbas from Abdulsalam Abbas & Co., and Deji Sarumi from Tech Hive Advisory.

“They covered critical topics including law, regulation, business formation, taxation, corporate governance, innovation, licensing, infringements, and data protection.

“On day two, attendees benefited from a fireside chat between Kayode Adegbola, Lead Advisor at Golborne Road Advisory (GRA), and Olumide Soyombo, an esteemed angel investor and venture capitalist.

“During the chat, they shared valuable perspectives on what investors prioritize when considering investing in startups.
Following the two-day event, participants have gained exclusive access to a three-month one-on-one clinic with GRA.

“This opportunity allows startups to leverage GRA’s decade-long expertise in navigating the complexities of regulatory compliance across the local, state, and federal governments of Nigeria.

“The UK Nigeria Tech Hub, together with Golborne Road Advisory together, remain committed to empowering Nigerian entrepreneurs by providing them with the knowledge and resources necessary for sustainable growth in an increasingly regulated environment.”
