Businessman, Sam Ubachukwu, Honoured
Being the son of the wealthy and famous late Chief Nathan Ubachukwu (Odu of Ichi), Africa’s largest distributor of the now defunct Bata shoes in Africa, has definitely not stopped Chief Sam Ubachukwu from carving a niche for himself and achieving personal success outside his father’s wealth.
Like his father who was known by the moniker ‘Man of Mighty Shoes,’ Ubachukwu has succeeded in his own businesses and earned himself a reputable household name in manufacturing, importation and distribution of pharmaceutical products, foods and cosmetics in the Nigerian and West African market.
Beyond his businesses, Ubachukwu who is a trained pharmacist and Chairman of Megachem Nigeria Limited, is known for his philanthropic acts. His love for humanity is a tale often told by many of his admirers and friends. Some even compare him to a shining star whose illumination provides brightness for all and sundry irrespective of colour, tribe, culture and religion.
For his altruism, Ubachukwu is about to be recognised on November 2, 2024, by the Association of Anambra State Development Unions (AASDU), Lagos. The association will confer on him the prestigious honour of the Special Award of Excellence in Business and Industry.
The award is in recognition of his service to humanity, contributions to the community, and economic and human capital development through his businesses and industry. The event, as gathered by Society Watch, will take place during AASDU’s 2024 Anambra Dinner/Award Night, at the Colonades Hotel, Ikoyi, Lagos.
A 1985 Pharmacy graduate of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, Ubachukwu is a Fellow of the Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria, FPSN.
Before AASDU nominated him for an award, he already had in his kitty, streaks of honours from different bodies and organisations in recognition of his unparalleled contributions to the cause of a better society.
