Eno, Sanwo-Olu Attend Groundbreaking for 18-Storey Ibom Towers in Lagos

In a move to strengthen Akwa Ibom’s Internally Generated Revenue (IGR), the Akwa Ibom State Government has flagged off an 18-storey Ibom Towers project in Lagos, following a groundbreaking ceremony by the Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, accompanied by the host Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, amidst commendations by the former governor of the state, Obong Victor Attah, the Oniru of Iruland, Oba Abdulwasiu Omogbolahan Lawal, and other eminent Nigerians.


The project, aimed at driving substantial revenue and GDP growth for both states, providing much-needed economic diversification amid Nigeria’s current financial challenges, is expected to be completed in 24 months.
Governor Eno in his address explained that the project was meant to generate income and create job opportunities for the state.


He said the Ibom Towers, located in the heart of Victoria Island, will serve as an iconic structure aimed at boosting investments and economic ties, directly benefiting Lagos and Akwa Ibom.
According to him, “In our determined efforts to grow more streams of income and deepen our investment portfolio, we are here to perform the groundbreaking ceremony for the 18-storey Ibom Towers.


“No nation or a sub-national relies on one source of income. They must diversify the sources of their income, they must expand their portfolios. The Ibom Towers will help increase our IGR. It will raise our profile and a sense of identity; it will stand as an iconic reminder of the power of creative application of resources to yield the most benefits for the people.”

In his remarks, Governor Sanwo-Olu welcomed the development, highlighting Lagos’ longstanding role as Nigeria’s centre for commerce.

According to him, the landmark project, at Plot 868A, Bishop Aboyade Cole, Victoria Island, represents not only physical growth but also a symbol of inter-state collaboration and shared prosperity.

“The decision by Akwa Ibom State to embark on this ambitious venture here in Lagos is a testament to the dynamism of our great city as a commercial hub and to the visionary leadership of Governor Umo Eno.

“This groundbreaking affirms our commitment to welcoming and fostering projects that strengthen economic ties and create new opportunities across our regions.

“As Ibom Towers rises, it will serve as a beacon of the fruitful alliance between Lagos and Akwa Ibom, creating a unique space that encourages business, investment, and vibrant community life. Projects like this one are the embodiment of our collective vision for Nigeria’s growth, driven by creativity, collaboration and a commitment to excellence.”

In his goodwill message, the Oniru, Oba Lawal, expressed satisfaction with the project, assuring his support and seeing it as a legacy of Lagos-Akwa Ibom cooperation.

Similarly, the President General of Akwa Ibom State Traditional Rulers Council, His Eminence, Ntenyin Solomon Etuk, stressed the value of the initiative in uplifting Akwa Ibom’s profile internationally and encouraged the involvement of young engineers from the state to gain hands-on experience.

The Speaker of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Udeme Otong, pledged legislative support, asserting that landmark projects like Ibom Towers elevate Akwa Ibom’s standing nationally.

Former Governor, Obong Attah commended the achievement, viewing it as the realisation of a vision to make Akwa Ibom a key player in real estate and economic growth. “This project represents the fulfilment of long-held aspirations for our state’s prosperity,” he said.
