AASDU Honours Chief Emeka Agba for Community Services Initiatives

The Association of Anambra State Development Union (AASDU) Lagos, has honoured Chief Emeka Agba for his philanthropist activities in the area of community services across the state through his Emeka Agba Foundation.

Speaking at the 2024 AASDU 2024 Lecture and Awards Dinner event, Chief Emeka Agba, who accepted the awards Alongside his wife, called on more wealthy Nigerians to do more to their various communities.

Receiving the Awards alongside other illustrious sons of Anambra over the weekend, Chief Emeka Agba , described the awards as a wake up call to further help those in need considering the prevailing economic situation across the country.

According to him, “I feel great. This award coming out this time is an encouragement that we get from the different institutions based on our philanthropic support to humanity. The award is in appreciation of all we have been doing to the society to benefit mankind- the less privilege, and all manner of humanitarian assistance that we have given in the past.

“It is based on that, that we were able to be worthy of this award. Oh, it’s numerous. It’s not just something I open up. We have many scholarships, given a lot of scholarships in our communities, in different places. We’ve built roads, schools. We’ve been in need for a very long time.

On the concept of Akuluo-Uno, and what made AASDU to consider him worthy for the award, Agba acknowledged that they would continue to support the state government in the area of insecurity.

“Well, we are doing our best to support the state government and the federal government in fighting insecurity in Anambra State or in the Southeast region.We have a lot in our baskets, which we are not letting out at once at the moment. But as time progresses, we will surely bring this to the public domain, because it cannot be silenced. But for now, we are supporting the approach of the government in fighting insecurity.”

The event with the theme, ‘Akuluo-Uno: Philosophy and Predicament of Ndigbo in Contemporary Nigeria’, saw eminent Anambra citizens honoured across different categories.

Giving his opening speech at the Chairman of the day, Nze Augustine Emelobe, described the awards as a way of encouraging recipients to do more.

According to him, “The Theme of the lecture / dinner is self-explanatory as the time has come for us to think about home considering the global economic environment. Businesses can now be carried out from anywhere as the world has become a global village. The distribution of our business locations can assist in congesting the urban centers and also ensure even distribution of employment opportunities and development as well as enhance the security of the immediate locations. Jobs help to provide securities in our home towns and bases.

“This Lecture / Award ceremony is designed to recognize the enormous human capital embedded in the belly of Anambra State and Southeast showcasing the Igbo Man indefatigable spirit, resourcefulness, from the talent, skill, resilience and industry of typical Ndi Anambra wherever we find ourselves. We shall recognize distinguished Ndi Anambra and friends of Ndi Anambra who have excelled in their chosen endeavours through hard work, integrity, resourcefulness, probity without compromise and who have through their investments and actions impacted positively or the lives and economy of our people.”

For the President of AASDU, Chief Sir. Amechi Ebeledike, those awarded were thoroughly selected after a painstaking process.

According to him, “We are always striving to be the best in technology, culture, other businesses and also in academics, sectors. We must ensure that we remain the reference point for good and in the forefront at all times. All of today’s Awardees are unrepentant believers in AKULUO UNO philosophy and are all owners of substantive investments in ANAMBRA and supporting the drive of being proud Anambrarians. It is yet another season to blow the Anambra Trumpet!

“We have painstakingly selected just a few of the numerous nominated and highly qualified persons for this year’s Awards.
