Caverton Loses Non-Executive Director, Bashir Bakare

Caverton Offshore Support Group (COSG) Plc has announced the passing of a Non-Executive Director, Mr. Bashiru Bakare.

According to a statement, the passing of Bakare after a brief illness, represents an immense loss to the Caverton family and everyone who had the privilege of knowing him during his lifetime.

It said:“Mr. Bakare was an exceptional leader and respected financial expert, with a distinguished career spanning over 25 years in the banking industry. An alumnus of the London School of Economics with a degree in Monetary Economics, he brought profound expertise and insight into every organisation he was involved with. His impactful contributions to First Bank Plc, where he served as Executive Director, and his roles on the Boards of its subsidiaries, exemplified his commitment to excellence and the betterment of Nigeria’s financial landscape.

“Since joining COSG, Mr. Bakare has been a pillar of wisdom, leadership, and dedication. As Chairman of our Board Safety and Implementation Committee and a key member of our Governance and Implementation Committee, he played a vital role in shaping the vision and operational integrity of our organisation. His guidance extended to Caverton Marine Limited, where he expertly directed our marine operations.”

While reflecting on the long-standing friendship he shared with late Bakare, Chairman of COSG, Mr. Aderemi Makanjuola, said: “Bashiru and I shared many cherished memories as classmates at Ahmadiyya College Agege in Lagos, and we began our careers together at Barclays Bank. His intellect, integrity, and warmth have always inspired those around him. My deepest condolences go to his darling wife, children, and grandchildren during this difficult time. Bashiru was not just a colleague; he was a dear friend whose legacy will continue to inspire us all.”

“Beyond his remarkable professional accomplishments, Mr. Bakare was a man of integrity, kindness, and warmth—a devout Muslim, a true mentor, and a friend to many within our company. His legacy will remain deeply woven into the fabric of Caverton, and his absence will be profoundly felt.

“As we mourn this tremendous loss, we invite everyone to join us in extending heartfelt condolences to Mr. Bakare’s family. Let us honour his memory by continuing to uphold the values and standards he championed,” Makanjuola added.
