In Colombia, Women Affairs Minister, Other Delegates Commit to Ending Violence Against Children
The Nigerian government has reiterated its commitment to the protection of the rights of children and ending violence against them at the historic 1st Global Conference on Ending Violence Against Children in far away Bogota, Colombia.
Minister of Women Affairs, Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim, led Nigeria’s delegation with 1,600 participants, including 143 ministers and 93 countries, with a commitment to drive transformative change towards a Nigeria and the world free of violence against children.
In a statement on Wednesday by the Media Consultant, Mr Jonathan Eze, the Minister emphasized Nigeria’s commitment and accountability to ending violence against children under the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
In her remarks, the minister outlined several steps and policies of the Nigerian government that are children and women oriented, with a commitment to further advance their interests.
She noted that there is opportunity, and necessity, to accelerate; to deliver a transformative shift on child protection.
“The first-ever Global Ministerial Conference on Ending Violence Against Children represents an historic moment; to re-imagine a world where all children are safe in their homes, schools, communities and online and make commitments commensurate with the global child protection challenge.
“Nigerian government under President Bola Tinubu is determined to make living conditions better for children and have created viable means towards securing and investing on children as national treasures and as leaders of tomorrow.”
According to her, this landmark event serves as a critical platform to address the urgent steps needed to safeguard every child, calling on nations to unite in confronting the profound challenges and responsibilities at hand.
The conference provided a highest-profile platform for showcasing national progress, announcing new commitments and amplifying diverse voices. Participants convened– and pledged towards priority child protection themes.
Together, delegates at the ministerial conference underscored the immense stakes involved in creating a safer, saner, and more secure future for the next generation.
