Trackfit Restates Commitment to Cancer Fight, Offers Free Screening

Trackfit community has restated committment to tackling cancer scourge at its annual Breast Cancer Awareness Walk that held at the University of Lagos, recently. 

Over 150 persons who participated in the walk also enjoyed free breast screening, amongst other perks. 

 The main walk  covered a scenic 5km route, starting from the University of Lagos back gate and passing through Ransom Kuti and Afe Babalola Hall before circling back. 

Participants who glowed in pink shirt in solidarity for breast cancer awareness, also  engaged in fitness demonstrations, creating an atmosphere of celebration and unity.

The programme had experts from different centres, including representatives from St. Cyril Cancer Treatment Center sensitized attendees on the reality of breast cancer and the need to embrace routine checkup to prevent or catch the disease early. 

The event was supported  by Amal Outreach which offered essential health checks , while Pink Clinic provided participants with vital health screenings, including private consultations, to reinforce the event’s commitment to wellness and preventative health.

Speaking, Founder/ Coordinator of the community, Ademola Alugo reiterated  the organization’s drive to tame cancer scourge. 

He said, “The fight against cancer is one that we will keep leading; at Trackfit, we encourage health prioritization for our community members and the general public; one of the few ways this can be achieved is through regular checkups and awareness campaigns such as this. We recognize the role of October in breast cancer awareness, and we are pleased to be part of people and organizations joining hands to ensure everyone is knowledgeable about breast cancer. We are grateful to our sponsors, including the University of Lagos for supporting us on this drive. “

One of the sponsors, Bay Ice also marked the occasion with the launch of  Women ‘s watch towards empowering and inspiring women. 

“We’re proud to support this meaningful cause and encourage women to prioritize their health”, he said. 

A highlight of the programme was the spirited 500m x 4 relay race led by popular Coach Martins.
