Tochukwu Michael Tochukwu, a serial entrepreneur and award-winning fashion designer, has carved a remarkable niche in Nigeria’s fashion industry. As the CEO of Asandrea Collections, his brand has become synonymous with blending African identity into contemporary designs, offering clients bespoke outfits that embody cultural uniqueness and style.

Tochukwu’s journey into fashion began in 2010, driven by a natural talent for creativity and an entrepreneurial mindset he nurtured from childhood. A graduate of Economics from Nnamdi Azikiwe University, he balanced school life with various business ventures, selling items and taking on side gigs to support himself. “I realized early in life that as a man, you need to do something for yourself to succeed,” he recalls. This realization laid the foundation for Asandrea Collections, a business born from his passion for fashion and sustained through resilience and innovation.

Now, 14 years on, Asandrea Collections has withstood challenges and emerged stronger. Tochukwu reflects on the brand’s evolution with pride: “It has been a fantastic journey. We are not where we used to be. Despite the hurdles, we’ve learned to manage challenges more effectively.” His designs, deeply rooted in African culture, stand out for their originality and the ability to cater to the unique personalities of his clients. “At Asandrea Collections, it’s important that our clients feel their outfits reflect their individuality while providing great value for money,” he says.

Tochukwu’s outstanding contributions to fashion were recently recognized when he received the Outstanding Fashion Designer of the Year award at the 2024 Classic Africa Merit Awards. While he is no stranger to accolades, this particular honor holds a special place in his heart. “It came at a time when the economy is wobbly, yet my work was acknowledged for its impact on the Nigerian fashion industry,” he shares with pride.

For Tochukwu, the keys to entrepreneurial success lie in passion, dedication, and consistency. He believes strongly in perseverance, urging others to “never give up, no matter the obstacles. Remain consistent, and success will come.” His faith has also been a cornerstone of his journey. “Hold God like never before. When the road gets tough, He will help you,” he advises.

Reflecting on life’s lessons, Tochukwu emphasizes the importance of resilience and belief. “You need to be strong—physically and spiritually. Every phase has its time and season. Stay focused and never stop believing,” he says.
