ABC Nigeria Announces 4th Annual Cyber Hackathon

The American Business Council Nigeria (ABC Nigeria), in partnership with Comercio and other leading private-sector collaborators, has announced that its “4th Annual Cyber Hackathon: Showcasing Africa’s Top” would take place on November 26.

The ABC Nigeria also said that intending participants should register online for the Cyber Hackathon before 11:59 p.m. WAT on November 24, 2024.

It stated that this year’s event would empower the next generation of cybersecurity leaders and innovators in Africa and provide a vibrant platform for Africa’s brightest cybersecurity minds and tech founders to collaborate, innovate, and compete.

It noted that the Cyber Hackathon “is more than just a competition—it’s a rallying call to shape Africa’s digital future,” adding that participants would delve into critical areas such as innovations at the intersection of cybersecurity and AI, upskilling and mentorship for aspiring cybersecurity professionals, strategies to tackle cyber threats specific to the African context, a deep dive into Africa’s evolving cybersecurity regulatory framework as well as building a resilient cybersecurity ecosystem.

“To position Africa as a global leader in cybersecurity, this initiative seeks to drive significant investments in talent, capacity development, and policy reforms. Participants will contribute to building a robust cybersecurity ecosystem that addresses emerging threats while fostering innovation,” the ABC Nigeria said.

It also said that participants stand the chance to win exciting prizes and rewards such as a 5-week pre-accelerator program that would be hosted live in Silicon Valley, USA; specialised cybersecurity training and certifications; laptops and cutting-edge tech gadgets as well as exclusive gift bags.

Highlights of the event include “Capture the Flag Competition,” which is a thrilling challenge to test and showcase participants’ cybersecurity skills and “Founder’s Hackathon,” which is an opportunity for innovators to pitch creative solutions that would address Africa’s cybersecurity challenges.

This event is made possible through the collaborative efforts of ABC Nigeria, Comercio, Teknowledge, NaijaSecForce, and Draper University.
