The need to relentlessly strive for excellence and growth in life’s endeavours has been reiterated in a new book, ‘Beyond Dentistry’
Authored by renowned dentist and founder of Smile 360 Dental Specialists, Dr. Amy Shumbusho, the book offers professional advice for building a thriving business as well as harmonising personal and professional life, drawing insight from the author’s experience of over three decades.
Speaking at the unveiling of the book which held on the sidelines of Smile 360’s Project Smile Award Ceremony, Shumbusho encouraged professionals across fields to embrace all success-enabling factors including goal setting, trust, quality, collaboration, mentorship and good customer service, amongst others.
Citing the healthcare sector, the author maintained that every growth-oriented professional must strive to cater to patients’ needs beyond their obvious health challenges.
“It is important to read our patients by their mood and give them the treatment that transcends their physical pain after building trust with them. By engaging with them, you gain insight and opportunities to new ideas, just like how my conversations with patients over the years have inspired my new book,” it added.
She further tasked professionals to always aim at the next level, urging them to explore opportunities beyond their skills to reach the top.
She said, “To reach the next levels, you must have a vision, note that your vision must not disconnect from your personal goals. You must also embrace collaboration and make sure that you constantly engage to draw ideas for the next level.”
Earlier, an Associate Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery, Dr. Julius Oni, charged healthcare workers to build entrepreneurial spirit, stressing also the importance of financial literacy and legacy.
The event ended with prize presentation to the overall winner of the 2024, ‘Project Smile’ initiative won by Sophia Onyeka Enoch.
Shumbusho said Enoch emerged the winner from about 170 entries received nationwide, thus winning for herself a smile makeover from Smile 360.
