Katsina Gov Presents N682bn 2025 Budget to Assembly

The Katsina State Governor, Dikko Umaru Radda, has presented a N682 billion budget proposal for the 2025 fiscal year to the state House of Assembly.
The proposed budget christened: ‘Building Your Future II’, which was presented before the lawmakers on Monday, has a 40 per cent increment of N200 billion from the 2024 appropriation.
A breakdown of the 2025 budget showed that N524 billion was proposed for capital expenditure, while N157 billion was set aside for the recurrent budget.
Presenting the budget before the lawmakers, Governor Radda outlined Federal Allocation, Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) and grants from international organisations as major revenue sources to fund the 2025 budget.
He further outlined allocations to key sectors to include education, N95.9 billion; agriculture, N81. 8 billion; works, housing and transports, N9.6 billion; rural and social development, N58.7 billion; water resources, N53.8 billion; health, 43.8 billion and security N18.9 billion.
Radda said: “The total size of the budget is the sum of N682,244,449,513.87 each for recurrent revenue and expenditure, with the following allocations:
“Recurrent expenditure N157,967,755,024.36, representing 23.15 per cent and capital expenditure N524,274,694,489.51, representing 76.85 per cent.
“The total of this budget when compared with that of 2024 has an increase of N200,535,619,501.61, representing 40 per cent increase.”
He stressed the importance of completing ongoing projects, while initiating new ones to address critical needs and deliver immediate impact.
Responding, the Speaker of the House of Assembly, Hon. Nasiru Yahaya-Daura, said the lawmakers would analyze the budget proposal for passage.
When passed into law, he said, the members of the Assembly would conduct effective oversight to ensure the implementation of projects encapsulated in the budget.
