NIHTE advocates for better roads infrastructures in the country…elects new executives at AGM

The Nigerian Institution of Highway and Transportation Engineers (NIHTE) has appealed to the Federal and other tiers of government to inject more budgetary allocation to the transport sector
NHITE tasked on mr. President, Ahmed Tinubu to signed the road reforms bill which is aimed at improving Nigeria’s road network and address critical challenges in the transportation system.
Speaking at the 2024 International Conference and Annual General Meeting held in Abuja on Friday, NIHTE National Chairman, Engr. Saidu Hassan, highlighted the urgency of the reforms.
“Our roads, highways, and transportation systems are the arteries of the economy, facilitating the movement of goods, services, and people.
“However, we face significant challenges, including inadequate funding, outdated infrastructure, and poor maintenance and management. A comprehensive review of the road sector is crucial to address these issues,” he said.
He appealed for support to ensure the President accents to the bill, which includes measures to enhance funding, regulations, and maintenance of the nation’s road network.
On his part, Engr. Dr. Mudasiru Bola,
Chairman Planning Committee of the of the event said ” throughout this conference, we will explore the latest developments, challenges, and opportunities in rural road infrastructure. We will share knowledge, experiences, and best practices, fostering collaboration and networking among participants.”
He tasked the participants to actively in the conference with the target of broden knowledge sharing and collaboration among professionals in enhancing their activities
Dr. Mudasiru said “I invite you to actively engage in the discussions, share your expertise, and learn from others. Together, let’s work towards improving Nigeria’s rural road infrastructure and contributing to the country’s food security and economic growth.”
Meanwhile, the National Chairman of NIHTE Engr Hassan Saidu and the National Secretary General of the Institution, EGR. Mudasiru among others dignitaries bagged the prestigious Presidential Merit Award for Excellent Service of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) at 2024 International Conference/Annual General Meeting recently.
Engr. Mudasiru while appreciating the gesture said ” i esteemed recognition is a testament to my tireless efforts and contributions to the growth and development of the Nigerian Institution of Highway and Transportation Engineers (NIHTE), the Nigerian Society Engineers and humanity at large.”
Similarly, Engr. Francis Oriakhi former Deputy Chairman of NIHTE was nominated the National Chairman of Institution, while Engr. Mudasiru Bola was elected as the Deputy National Chairman of NIHTE at the Annual General Meeting among other new executives.
