Rhodes Vivour, Ajaero, Others to Receive GAH Awards

The 2024 edition of the GMYT Africa Humanitarian (GAH) Awards will recognise notable personalities across different fields. They include the former Labour Party governorship candidate for Lagos State, Gbadebo Rhodes Vivour; President of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Comrade Joe Ajaero; Chairman CEO Caades Group, Dr Chima Anyaso; CEO Celtron Nigeria Ltd, Prince Adedapo Adelegan, CEO Business School Netherlands international, Prof. Lere Baale, and ex-beauty queen and CEO, Seed Foundation, Lady Sylvia Nduka.

Themed ‘Against All Odds,’ organisers explained that the awardees this year are exceptional leaders who are defying challenges and transforming Africa’s business landscape.

Also, the awards, now in its 12th year, extend beyond recognition as it will focus on sustainable change by addressing critical UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) that are essential for long-term growth and resilience in African businesses. Specifically, it will spotlight SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure), and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) while celebrating leaders who foster economic prosperity, build resilient infrastructure and drive collaborative solutions.

According to Dr Princess Kelechi Oghene, Group Managing Director, GMYT Group, these goals align with the event’s mission to empower businesses and leaders to create a positive legacy for future generations.

She highlighted the unique challenges that impact the longevity and success of most African businesses.”From limited access to funding to a lack of structural support, African businesses struggle to build sustainable legacies. The GAH Awards seeks to address these systemic issues, empowering leaders with the tools, insights, and partnerships necessary to create resilient enterprises
that will endure.”

For Oghene, the GAH Awards call for a unified approach to support African businesses, involving government, financial institutions, and community networks. Through policy advocacy, accessible financial resources, mentorship, and community support, the event, she says, aims to create a framework for sustainable growth across the continent.

GAH Awards will take place on Saturday, December 7, at Cube 65, Royal Box, Victoria Island, Lagos.
