The historic city of Akure, Ondo State, came alive on November 24th as it hosted the inaugural Global Entrepreneurship Festival Fashion Show. Held under the theme Beyond Boundaries, the prestigious event brought together the finest talents in Nigeria’s fashion industry alongside an impressive lineup of international dignitaries, industry leaders, and cultural icons.

The event was hosted by the Governor of Ondo State, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, and graced by notable figures, including Africa’s leading businesswoman and philanthropist, Mrs. Folorunsho Alakija, who serves as the Matron of African Entrepreneurship Development. Fashion enthusiasts and international guests were treated to a breathtaking night of style, music, and cultural celebration, including a standout performance by Afrobeat legend Femi Kuti.

Stealing the spotlight on the runway was Blessing Eleh, the designer and CEO of the luxury fashion brand, Bibi Lawrence. Her collection was a masterful display of Nigeria’s rich cultural heritage, featuring wedding dresses, reception outfits, and African couture inspired by the vibrant traditions of Nigeria’s tribes, including the Yoruba, Igbo, Hausa, and Calabar people.

In her remarks, Blessing Eleh expressed her pride in showcasing Nigerian craftsmanship on such a significant stage. “It was an honor to represent Nigeria and our rich culture at this global event,” she said. “The majority of the outfits on display were handmade and fully beaded, requiring hundreds of hours of labor. One particular masterpiece took three months to complete, demonstrating the passion and commitment that goes into creating every Bibi Lawrence design.”

The intricate details, luxurious fabrics, and cultural motifs of her collection left the audience in awe, earning Bibi Lawrence a standing ovation. Guests described the pieces as a perfect blend of cultural elegance and contemporary sophistication, setting a new standard for premium Nigerian fashion.
