I Feel At Home With Music: Afrobeats Star, Folayemi

Afrobeats sensation, Daniels Folayemi has shared his deep connection to music, stating that creating and performing songs has always felt natural to him. The artist revealed that his musical journey began during his early school days.

In a statement from his media team, Folayemi disclosed that he started writing and creating music as early as six years old, even though he didn’t fully grasp the significance of his talent at the time.

“I’m an Afrobeats artist in the truest form! Music has always been a part of me, probably since I was about 4, but I didn’t realise it then,” he said. “I wrote and made music since I was 6, but I didn’t really know what I was doing—I was just doing it.”

As he grew older, his talent became more apparent, thanks to the encouragement and feedback from family, friends, and classmates. “They’d hear me and say things like, ‘Boy, you’re not normal!’ I took that literally,” he explained. “I always found joy in singing to people.”

Recalling his childhood, Folayemi shared how he would perfectly perform songs by Nigerian stars like Olamide and Lil Kesh, often leading others to wonder if he was related to them. However, he clarified his journey into music was not a mere calling—it was destiny. “I don’t like to say I was called to music. No! I was chosen!”

Folayemi’s passion and authenticity as an artist reflect in his music, cementing his place as one of the rising stars in Afrobeats.
