HE Summit 2024: Redefining Masculinity and Championing Men’s Mental Health

The HE Summit 2024, hosted by nonprofit organization HEvolve, took center stage on November 23 to mark International Men’s Day with a powerful focus on positive masculinity. Held under the theme “Positive Male Role Models,” the summit brought together thought leaders, advocates, and attendees to challenge stereotypes, foster emotional wellness, and celebrate men’s authentic selves.

A Call to Action for Men’s Mental Health

In his opening address, Ridwan Amoo, founder of HEvolve, shared his personal story of resilience and underscored the importance of creating safe spaces for men to address mental health challenges without fear of judgment. Amoo’s speech set the tone for a day filled with transformative discussions and actionable insights.

Keynote addresses by Patrick Smith and Ehita Adedokun explored mentorship, positive influence, and mental health advocacy, while panel discussions tackled pressing issues like stereotypes in media, character building through mentorship, and the creation of robust support systems for men’s mental health.

Engaging Highlights and Programs

The summit featured interactive workshops and an uplifting musical performance by Ayomitunde Oyeniran, providing attendees with both inspiration and practical tools to navigate modern societal pressures. Additionally, HEvolve unveiled its initiatives—including the Boys 2 Men Program, Workplace Mental Health Program, and Community Mental Health Ambassadors—designed to drive meaningful change across communities.

The Path Ahead

Closing the event, Ridwan Amoo reiterated the need to dismantle toxic masculinity and foster a culture where vulnerability is celebrated as a strength. “Together, we can create a society where men feel empowered to seek help and thrive,” he said.

The HE Summit concluded with a rallying call for individuals and organizations to join HEvolve in advocating for men’s mental health and building a more inclusive future. As the event drew to a close, one message was clear: the conversation around positive masculinity and mental health is not just important—it’s essential.
