The 43rd edition of the Federation of Public Service Games (FEPSGA) tagged “Simplified Rivers 2024”, will be wrapped up today in Rivers State.
The games hosted by the Rivers State Government led by Governor Siminalayi Fubara, witnessed over 8000 athletes from federal government parastatals across the country competing in the state.
In a statement signed by the Chairman, FEPSGA Media Sub Committee, Joe Johnson, said Governor Fubara is expected to formally bring to a close, the 43rd edition of FEPSGA hosted by the state.
Johnson who confirmed that the closing ceremony has been scheduled to hold at the Sharks Stadium, Port Harcourt, said federal and state government officials, athletes, technical officials and members of the public will be on ground to witness the ceremony.
He said “In the last one week, Rivers State has played host to over 8,000 athletes from 80 Ministries/Departments/Agencies of federal government, in addition to Team Rivers.
“The Games have been held in an atmosphere of intense competition by all the athletes, with new champions emerging in some of the events,” the Chairman stressed.
Johnson disclosed that it was the second time that the state would be hosting the annual event that brought together federal civil servants to compete for honours, whilst also using the opportunity to keep fit and network.
He concluded that the closing ceremony will witness the presentation of trophies and medals to winners in various sporting events.
