Forum Tips FIRS Boss to Revamp Oyo’s IGR As Governor in 2027

The Oyo Stakeholders Forum has revealed that the Chairman of the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), Zaach Adedeji, will revamp the Oyo State internally generated revenue (IGR) if he contests and wins the governorship election in 2027.

The Convener of the Forum, Jelili Akande, who said this at a press conference in Abuja on Tuesday, added that Adedeji’s performance at FIRS has demonstrated an exceptional ability to drive innovation, enhance efficiency and maximise revenue generation, a skillset that Oyo State urgently needs to unlock its full economic potential.

He said that the FIRS boss championed public-private partnerships to create awareness about tax compliance, ensuring that more businesses became part of the formal economy. 

According to Akande, Adedeji’s efforts have not only widened the tax net but have also restored public confidence in how tax revenues are utilized. 

He noted that such achievements demonstrated Adedeji’s ability to create sustainable solutions that benefit both the government and citizens—a template he plans to replicate in Oyo State.

Akande said: “Under Dr. Adedeji’s leadership at FIRS, Nigeria has witnessed a revolution in its tax administration system.
