Nigeria is set to revolutionize financial education through a groundbreaking partnership with Bloomberg, aimed at establishing Financial Markets Labs nationwide to enhance the country’s financial literacy and investment capabilities.

Former Minister of National Planning and current Chairman of the Ministry of Finance Incorporated, Dr. Shamsudeen Usman hinted at this strategic initiative following Nigeria’s participation in the recent Bloomberg New Economy Forum in Sao Paulo, Brazil.

The collaboration promises to transform the financial education capabilities of Nigerians and deepen the knowledge of government entities responsible for managing national investments in global financial markets.

During the New Economy Forum, Dr. Usman and Dr. Femi Ogunseinde, Chief Investment Officer of the Ministry of Finance Incorporated, met with Bloomberg’s leadership, including the organisation’s CEO and were received in a high level welcome event by Bloomberg founder, Michael Bloomberg.

“This partnership represents a pivotal moment for Nigeria’s financial ecosystem,” said Dr. Shamsudeen Usman. “Bloomberg Financial Markets Labs will provide unprecedented access to cutting-edge financial education and resources, empowering our people , government institutions and professionals with world-class training and insights.”

Nicky Keefe, Bloomberg’s Global Head of Government Partnerships, expressed enthusiasm about the collaboration. “We are excited to support Nigeria’s vision of enhancing financial knowledge and capabilities. This partnership aligns perfectly with our mission of generating innovative solutions and mobilizing capital to address global challenges.”

The Bloomberg New Economy Forum, which brings together public and private sector leaders, served as the catalyst for this transformative partnership.

Key Bloomberg executives will visit Abuja, Nigeria in the coming weeks to finalize the detailed implementation modalities of the Financial Markets Labs  and a global investment branding campaign focused on Nigeria.

The initiative is expected to enhance financial literacy across non government and government institutions, provide advanced training in global financial market strategies, support Nigeria’s investment management capabilities and create a robust framework for continuous financial education
