Armed security personnel including the State Security Service (SSS), in the early hours of Friday besieged all entrance leading to the Emir of Kano palace.

According to reports, the move may not be unconnected with the appointment and installation of the new district of Bichi, which is one of the five emirate councils scrapped by the Kano State Government.

Also, at the Bichi town, which is about 30 kilometers away from Kano, security forces have also barricaded the entrance to the Palace, where the new district head was expected to occupy.

The Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II, was scheduled to effect the appointment of the new district head, Alhaji Mannir Sanusi, who is the present Wambai of Kano.

The Emir Sanusi II is also expected to accompany the newly-appointed district head to his new official district post in Bichi.

As at the time of filing this report, Emir Sanusi II has come out of the main palace in the company of his aides to the front of the complex where he usually holds the traditional court session.

Sanusi and his aides came out of the palace amid pomp and ceremony, traditional gun salute and cheers from the mammoth crowd that gathered.
