Christian Elders Raise the Alarm Over Perceived Homosexual Cultism, Call for Strengthening of Penalties

The Christian Elders under the auspices of the National Prayer Alter (NPA) have raised the alarm over what it refers to as subtle acceptance of homosexuality in different facets of national life.

It said in some circles, participation in the related obnoxious sex rituals has become the mandatory passport to employment, promotion, political support, business connections, sponsorship in the entertainment industry, and very strangely, ‘church growth.’

The Coordinator of NPA, Pastor Bosun Emmanuel who stated this yesterday from a speech titled ‘State of the nation:

Defilement from sodomy’, said Nigerians in the political space, educational institutions, banking industry, and even within sacred religious institutions are being gradually desensitised to the social evils of homosexuality.

He recalled that the nation was assailed with the news and trial of the crossdresser, Bobrisky who also claimed, in a recorded telephone conversation, to have a very influential “godfather,” thereby implicitly indicting the upper echelons of society in the unwholesome practice, noting that such a character could openly be called “Mummy of Lagos, is an indictment on our collective sensibility and decency as a country.”

Acknowledging that such is prohibited in the Nigerian constitution with a penalty of 14 years imprisonment, he called on the government to strengthen the legislation against sodomy, adding that  anyone who publicly supports the practice should be arrested and prosecuted.

He said NPA rejects sodomy on three strong grounds namely, cultural, religious and legal, noting that the laws of Nigeria forbid sodomy, with a 14-year jail term for anyone guilty of the crime.

According to him, “Through the unfortunate patronage of some Western nations, an obnoxious counterculture is fast spreading in Nigeria, expressing itself as homosexuality, lesbianism, cross-dressing, and all the wired contours accommodated under the deplorable LGBTQ umbrella.

“In the political space, educational institutions, the banking industry, and even within sacred religious institutions, Nigerians are being gradually desensitised to the social evils of homosexuality, a so-called “lifestyle” that we wish to describe more spiritually appropriately by the distasteful name of sodomy.

“Anyone who publicly supports the practice should be arrested and prosecuted. This is imperative, as some sodomites sneakily deploy the media to distort narratives and make the crime look like “freedom of choice.” That perversion and trespass of the law can be no less ‘freedom of choice’ than drug trafficking or armed robbery.

“The law should be expanded to empower Nigerians to report, arrest and prosecute anyone who promotes homosexuality in the country. There should be greater advocacy in the media, targeted at our impressionable youths, especially in schools.  Most of the promoters of this defilement come across as ‘successful celebrities,’ so it is our responsibility to protect our children.”

He said already, the country is inundated with cases of corruption, nepotism, mediocrity, insecurity, hunger, and many more and the burden of sodomy should not be added to it.

He added that “As people of faith, we affirm that “righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a reproach to any people and sodomy is sin against God and humanity.”
