Constance Walter Takes Her Purpose to the Runway
Constance Walter, the renowned luxury brand, infused a powerful message of young women’s empowerment into her SS25/Holiday Collection, which took centre stage at the Pearl Event Garden in Lekki.
The event drew elites from the fashion world, eager to witness her latest designs. Known for her commitment to creating pieces that cater to women of all sizes, Walter showcased around 60 looks, ranging from kaftans, kimonos, pants sets, and beachwear to stunning statement gowns.
The collection was a bold and elegant display, with designs featuring intricate beading and stylish embellishments. Male models were also part of the runway, sporting fashionable beachwear and contemporary outfits that added a balanced touch to the event. However, the true beauty of the evening lay in the purpose behind the collection: to empower young women.
“Initially, this was going to be my Spring/Summer 2025 collection,” creative designer Chioma Walter shared. “A lot of themes came to mind during planning, but ‘The Girl in Mind’ resonated deeply with me because I wanted to give back to the community. And who better to receive this gift than the girl child? There is no future without girls or women. So, I thought it would be best to start changing the narrative—not just by having a runway show, but by doing something meaningful.”
This purpose led Walter to partner with the International Women’s Development Centre, where she pledged to donate industrial sewing machines to 10 graduating students on December 12. Additionally, the best-graduating student will receive an internship opportunity with her brand.
“We want to create a better future for the next generation of women who aspire to be independent. And we are not stopping here—we will offer any support they need, including further training. It’s not easy to acquire a skill, so we want to empower them to thrive in this industry.”
Walter also hinted that this initiative would be ongoing, with plans to expand the number of beneficiaries in subsequent editions.
