Family, Friends Set to mark Okumagba’s 60th Posthumous Birthday December 18

The concept of immortality means different things to different people. It’s definitions are as diverse as the definers. But no one has described it as aptly as the American author, journalist and politician, Norman Cousins, who simply explained that immortality should be measured with one’s ability to spark a positive light in others.

Albert Egbaroghene Okumagba was born on the 4th of April, 1964 and died on the 19th of November, 2020. But the lights he sparked in the lives of others while alive have obviously neither dimmed nor waned. Consequently, friends, family members, professional colleagues, captains of industries and several institutions will gather to celebrate his 60th posthumous birthday on the 18 of December, 2024.

The event is billed to be a grand success, thanks to the efforts of a select group of family and friends who came together to honor his memory. The planning committee, headed by Chuma Anosike, worked tirelessly to ensure a memorable celebration that cut across various areas of Okumagba’s life.

The guest list boasts of an impressive line-up of dignitaries in the likes of: Dr. Emomotimi Agama, Director-General of the Securities and Exchange Commission, who will deliver the keynote address. Dr. Uyi Apata will attend as a special guest, while Itua Ighodalo will lead the opening prayers.

Highpoint of the celebrations will be the unveiling of a book titled: “Fine Wine”, authored by Uri Ngozichukwuka, which aptly captures Okumagba’s essence. Egba, as he was fondly called by close acquaintances was a renowned investment banker and Managing Director of BGL Plc. He also served as President of the Chartered Institute of Stockbrokers. His legacy is remembered with love and admiration by friends, family, and colleagues. He is described by all and sundry as a confident and courageous character, expecially around the financial management space.

Several institutions will be represented at the celebration, themed: “Unveiling a Legacy of confidence.” The event is meant to recognise and celebrate Okumagba’s personal growth and commitment to achieving excellence in all endeavours. These include: Federal Government College, Warri, King’s College, Lagos, Lagos Business School, the Chartered Institute of Stockbrokers and others.
