Limoblaze’s Performance at The Experience 2024 Marks a Milestone for AfroGospel

The 19th edition of The Experience Lagos, Africa’s largest annual gospel music concert hosted by House On The Rock Church under the leadership of Pastor Paul Adefarasin, brought together a star-studded lineup of gospel artists from across the globe.

Among the renowned names gracing the stage, Limoblaze, a trailblazer in the AfroGospel movement, made a memorable appearance, marking a significant moment for the genre.

Over the years, The Experience has featured iconic gospel performers such as CeCe Winans, Kirk Franklin, Tye Tribbett, Chandler Moore, Travis Greene, Nathaniel Bassey, and Dunsin Oyekan.

This year, Limoblaze joined the ranks, performing alongside his label boss, Lecrae, in a set that captivated the audience and underscored the growing prominence of AfroGospel—a subgenre of Afrobeats with a Christian message.

During the concert, Pastor Paul Adefarasin emphasized the importance of including artists like Limoblaze, who represent the next generation of believers. “This is why Limoblaze was invited,” Pastor Adefarasin said. “He represents that population, and this is an avenue to point that demographic towards the things of the Kingdom.”

Limoblaze delivered an electrifying performance, including his popular hit Jireh—a reimagining of a Maverick City classic featuring Lecrae and Happi—as well as songs from his latest album, Young and Chosen.

His ability to seamlessly blend Afrobeats with uplifting messages resonated deeply with the audience, many of whom are part of the younger demographic he seeks to inspire.

Since relocating to the United Kingdom, Limoblaze has consistently pushed boundaries as an urban gospel artist.

His appearance at The Experience 2024 further cemented his role as a leader in the AfroGospel community and offered a platform for the genre to gain wider acceptance on the global stage.

Reflecting on the opportunity, Limoblaze shared, “Jesus still wins over the world, and I find purpose in simply being a vessel He uses to reach out to His children through music.”

For years, AfroGospel has faced criticism and been relegated to the sidelines of gospel music.

However, Limoblaze’s performance at The Experience serves as a declaration that the genre has not only found its voice but also its rightful place on the main stage.

This milestone is a win for the entire AfroGospel community, affirming that faith-inspired music can resonate across generations and cultures.

With artists like Limoblaze leading the way, the future of AfroGospel looks brighter than ever.
