IWG, Chelsea Group Sign MoU to Convert Hotels Into Flexible Workspaces

The International Workspace Group (IWG), is to create both physical and virtual workspace in Abuja the nation’s capital for business who don’t want to spend much on office spaces.

This was made know at the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), between the IWG and the management of Chelsea Group of hotels in Abuja on Tuesday.

Speaking after signing the MoU the Country Director of IWG, Ayo Akinmade was enthusiastic about the collaboration, stating its unique nature.

“This is the first time we are partnering with a hotel in Nigeria, creating an ecosystem that combines a home, office, eating space, and leisure activities all in one location,” Makinde said.

Akinmade revealed that demand for the new flexible workspace model is already high, with inquiries coming in even before the project is set to launch in February.

“People can use the office, gym, and restaurant facilities within the same building. This setup is a game-changer, offering convenience and functionality,” he said.

He added that the collaboration could expand to other Chelsea Group locations in the future.

On the economic impact, Makinde emphasized that such initiatives enhance productivity and generate income, which ultimately contributes to taxes and value-added services for the economy.

The Director of Chelsea Group Limited, Kenechi Chidolue, on her part spoke more on this great initiative.

“This is the first time we are venturing into flexible workspaces or offering very specific, tailored office options, and we are very excited,”

“We believe this will enhance business and improve the lives of individuals who choose to sign up with IWG. They will experience our hospitality and amenities, not just here but across our locations in Nigeria.” She added

IWG’s Sales Director, Henry Onyeche, on his part said ,”We are present in 123 countries with over 4,000 locations. A member signing up here can access all our locations worldwide,” Onyeche explained.

He noted that subscribers would benefit from additional services such as meeting rooms, gym access, and other hotel amenities at discounted rates.

He also said m, that spaces will be made affordable to easy business that cannot afford to rent an office building and that once you subscribe to them you can enjoy 10% discount in any of their locations around the world.

While explaining their mode of business; they explained that the group provides working space for those who just want a space to work or needs a virtual office with a physical address. The group does background checks of clients before giving them workspace to operate.
