Julius Ilori Elected 12th President of Top U.S. Exchange Alumni Network

Julius Ilori, a 2023 Mandela Washington Fellow and advocate for youth development, inclusive education, and governance, has been elected as the 12th President of the Mandela Washington Fellowship Alumni Association of Nigeria (MWFAAN). MWFAAN, one of the largest and most impactful United States exchange alumni networks globally, is celebrated for its contributions to development initiatives across Nigeria and Africa.

The Mandela Washington Fellowship is the flagship program of the Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI), launched by former U.S. President Barack Obama to empower Africa’s future leaders. MWFAAN represents a thriving alumni network committed to collaboration, innovation, and societal impact in sectors such as education, entrepreneurship, and governance.

In his acceptance speech, Ilori shared his vision of inclusivity, collaboration, and impactful leadership. “I am honored to lead MWFAAN and serve this extraordinary community of change-makers. Together, we will strengthen our network, empower members, and bridge the gap between the United States and Nigeria.”

Ilori brings a wealth of experience to this role. As a certified project manager and recognized advocate for inclusive education, he has led initiatives like renovating special needs classrooms, equipping teachers with technological tools, and fostering partnerships with institutions such as the Lagos State Government. His presidency is expected to energize MWFAAN’s efforts in youth development and transformative education.
