Curtain Falls on Garth Dooley @ 70 Pro/Am Invitational Golf Tournament 

The Garth Dooley @ 70 Pro/Am Invitational Tournament which teed-off at the Benin Club Golf Club (BCGS), Edo State on December 17 will come to a close today.

The five-day tournament sponsored by Pipeline Infrastructure Nigeria Limited (PINL) featured over 200 invited professional and amateur golfers from across Nigeria to celebrate an icon, and a quintessential foreign investor that contributed immensely to the Nigerian economy and made Benin a home. He has contributed immensely to the game of golf in BCGS and other golf clubs across the country.

According to the Chairman of the Organising Committee, Kingsley Okunbor, a former Captain of BCGS, “We are celebrating one of our own, Garth, who has contributed in no small measure to golf and the social economic fabric of our state that he calls home. We are grateful to the sponsors, PINL, and we look forward to celebration of life at 70 for Garth, a jolly good fellow with this mega golf tournament.”

The Caddies and Eaglets teed-off on Tuesday and Wednesday respectively while Thursday’s event was for men’s hcp 19 – 28, ladies hcp 29 -36, veteran men’s and ladies, as well as super veteran men’s and ladies category.

Yesterday, being the day one of the main tournament teed-off with men’s hcp 0 – 18, ladies hcp 0 -28, and invited pros to determine those that will meet the cut for the final day round today.

Today’s final round will also feature guest men’s and ladies category alongside those who qualified from previous day event while the presentation ceremony and dinner party is billed for later in the evening.

Golfers from UBTH Golf Club; Ikoyi Golf Club, Lagos; IBB Golf and Country Club, Abuja; Ibori Golf and Country Club (IGCC), Ogunmu Golf Resort, Sapele Athletic Club Golf Section, Ibadan Golf Club, Port-Harcourt Golf Club, and amongst others are participating in the event.

Meanwhile, trophies and other exotic prizes will be presented to winners in various categories.
