Abians Laud Tinubu for Initiating Airport Project, Await Project Completion

Excitement is still in the air as the people of Abia State savour the prospect of having its own airport like most states in Nigeria, especially in the Southeast zone.
Presently, only Abia has no airport among the five states in the Southeast geopolitical zone but it chances of having an international cargo airport has brightened.
The Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Mr. Festus Keyamo, was in Abia State last week to perform the groundbreaking ceremony of Abia Airport at Nsulu being built by the federal government in partnership with Abia.
Reacting to the prospect of an airport springing up in Abia State in the next 36 months, the Chairman/CEO, Chief Irukwu Onwuka, said that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu means well for Abia State.
In a chat with journalists in Umuahia, Onwuka said that President Tinubu has demonstrated within the last 18 months that he has the interest of Abia and the entire Southeast at heart.
He stated that the records are there for doubters to see, citing the flagging-off of the comsgrucgio of Abia airport, establishment of the South East Development Commission (SEDC), and constituting of its board, as well as “strategic federal appointments.”
Onwuka, who was in Umuahia at the state secretariat of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to formalise his membership of the party at state level, also commended the president for approving free train rides for Nigerians during the Christmas season.
According to the founder/proprietor of the proposed Citiedge University Abuja, the presidential gesture has come at the most needed period given the importance of Christmas season to millions of Nigerians.
He expressed satisfaction with the leadership of the APC at both national and Abia State level “for their great achievements in ensuring peace, harmony, and stability within the APC family.”
Onwuka, who is a former chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) Ward 1, Aba North, explained that he was moved to join the APC because of the peace, harmony and stability in the ruling party.
He pledged his loyalty to the state APC 2023 governorship candidate, High Chief Ikechi Emenike; the state Chairman, Dr. Kingsley Ononogbu; the stakeholders, and the entire faithful for welcoming him into their party “with open arms”.
He pledged his readiness to contribute to the growth of his new party, saying: “From here, I am going back to my ward and local government area chapters to continue to mobilize members and fish for new ones.”
