The Ataoja of Osogbo land, Oba Jimoh Olanipekun, at the weekend bestowed a Chieftaincy title – “Bobagunwa of Osogboland” – on the Secretary to the State Government of Osun State, Hon. Teslim Igbalaye, in recognition of his contribution to the development of the town.
The event held at the Palace of Ataoja of Osogbo was witnessed by people from all walks of life who came to felicitate with the new Bobagunwa.
Hon. Teslim Igbalaye became the new Bobagunwa of Osogboland following the death of his late father who was the occupant of the position until his death some years back.
Speaking shortly after his installation, Igbalaye appreciated the traditional monarch for counting him worthy, promising to continue to contribute to the development of his town.
Igbalaye who expressed happiness over his new chieftaincy title said, it was a thing of joy that the same title was last held by his late father.
He, however, assured the Oba Olanipekun and the Ataoja in council of his maximum cooperation in their bid to take the ancient town of Osogbo to a greater height.
Speaking, Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State described the new Bobagunwa of Osogbo, Alhaji Teslim Igbalaye as a patriotic son of Osogbo.
Adeleke who commended the Ataoja for recognizing the contribution of SSG said, he has been passionate about the development of the town.
He reiterated commitment of the present administration to development of the state, especially the state capital ‘Osogbo’.
According to Adeleke, “during our election campaign, we promised to transform Osogbo to London, and we’re working tirelessly to achieve this goal not just in Osogbo, but across all local governments in the state.”
He, however, commended Ataoja of Osogbo for recognizing the SSG under his leadership with the chieftaincy title.
He said: “What happened here today is a replica of what had happened in Ede recently when I was installed as the Asiwaju of Edeland. Hon. Teslim Igbalaye takes on the role of his father, Chief Rasheed Adejare Igbalaye, who served as Bobagunwa of Osogbo and did exceptionally well during his lifetime.
“We didn’t just choose Hon. Teslim Igbalaye as the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), but due to his outstanding performance.
“The Ataoja of Osogbo also conferred on him the chieftaincy title of Bobagunwa of Osogbo in recognition of his achievements.
