Anambra Guber Aspirant Berates Soludo’s Slow Pace in Tackling Insecurity

The governorship aspirant of Labour Party (LP) for the Anambra State 2025 election, Mr. John Nwosu, has berated the state Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, over his seeming sluggishness is tackling the growing insecurity in the state.
Within the period of yuletide, there have been cases of kidnapping by criminals, including that of the member representing Onitsha North state constituency 1 in the state House of Assembly, Hon Justice Azuka, which happened on the Eve of Christmas.
Nwosu said: “Clearly, the Soludo administration has failed in articulating what ought to be priorities for Ndi Anambra.
“Statistics indicate a drastic drop in the number of those returning to Anambra State for the 2024 Christmas and 2025 New Year festivities.
“Incidentally, for some inexplicable reasons, the state government said it had mapped out ameliorative measures for tackling insecurity in the state which it would put in place in January 2025. This seems to be a case of putting the cart before the horse.”
Soludo had recently announced that his government plans to launch a joint security operation codenamed: ‘Operation Udo Ga Achi’, in late January 2025.
But Nwosu is wondering why Soludo has to wait until late January, when December is the period where indigenes of the state from far and wide return home to savour Christmas. He described it as misplaced priority.
The politician said: “It is most embarrassing that an eminent Anambra prelate is still missing, and on Christmas Eve an incumbent member of the Anambra State Assembly representing Onitsha North was kidnapped.
“Certainly, Anambra people can’t afford to continue supporting a governor who schedules security interventions as if he is scheduling a social appointment.
“State security is a 24/7 project anchored on a firm commitment and allocation of the required resources, personnel, equipment and materials.
“The present Anambra State Government cannot be allowed to mortgage the security of the state and the people period. We cannot be on exile from our homeland; change is needed.
“Since declaring my interest to run for the Anambra State governorship in 2025, I have repeatedly flagged insecurity as the overarching challenge in the state.
“Unending violence, rampant killings and kidnappings have since proven me right, and pointed to the stark failure of Governor Charles Soludo’s administration to meet its statutory responsibility to protect citizens of Anambra State. Visitors, indigenes, non-indigenes returnees, and Diasporas all know and assert that insecurity is the major bane of Anambra State.”
