BRIPAN Honours Past Presidents, Inducts New Fellows, Associates

The Business Recovery and Insolvency Practitioners Association of Nigeria (BRIPAN), has honoured its past presidents and general secretaries as part of the activities that marked its 20th anniversary celebration, which included the induction of associates and fellows to BRIPAN.

This was disclosed by the President of BRIPAN, Mr. Chimezie Victor Ihekweazu (SAN) in his welcome address during the recent 20th anniversary celebration in Victoria Island, Lagos State.

Ihekweazu said: “Tonight, we are gathered not only to celebrate our 20th anniversary and induction of our fellows and new inductees, we are taking advantage to honour our past presidents and general secretaries of our dear association for their remarkable contributions to the association and field of business recovery and insolvency but also to celebrate the growth of association.”

He explained that the award was an opportunity to recognise individuals, who through their distinction and dedication and exceptional contributions, have made notable impacts in advancing the association’s field and promoting the objectives of BRIPAN.

He said: “The awards are not mere acknowledgments of achievements but they reflect the values we uphold: integrity, professionalism, and a commitment to excellence.”

The past presidents that were honoured are late Mr. Adesupo Adetona (FCA), (2000-2004); Dr. Biodun Layonu (SAN), (2004-2006); Mr. Olutola O. Senbore (FCA), (2006-2008); Mr. Seyi Akinwunmi, (2008-2010); Mr. Anthony Idigbe (SAN), (2011-2013); Mr. Dele Odunowo, FCA, (2013-2015); Mr. Sola Oyetayo, FCA, (2015-2017); HRM Babatunde Ajayi, FCA, (2017-2019); Professor Fidelis Oditah, KC, SAN, (2019-2021) and Mr. Richard Ayodele Akintunde, SAN, (2021-2023).

The general secretaries that were honoured are Mr. Chimezie Victor C. Ihekweazu (SAN) and Mr. Okorie Kalu.

He also declared that BRIPAN has been given recognition under Section 705 and 707 of the Companies and Allied Matters Act 2020, which conferred on it the statutory mandate in insolvency and business rescue in Nigeria.

“In this regard we retain that obligation and will continue to discharge this obligation in support of the development of standard professional practice required as well as our contributions to nation building,” Ihekweazu said.
