LGA Chairmen Suspension: Oshiomhole and Derail of Constitutional Democracy in Edo

Desperate to justify the alleged ongoing extermination  of constitutional democracy in Edo State, Senator Adams Oshiomhole, has, as usual, resorted to barefaced lies  to window dress  the shameful takeover of the 18 local government councils by thugs engaged by the Governor-select, Monday Okpebholo.

In a video circulating on social media, Oshiomhole, flanked by Okpebholo and the Secretary to the State Government, Musa Ikhilor, like primary school children being directed by their fearsome headmaster, made statements that are totally false but in line with what now looks like the retired labour leader’s final life ambition, which is to attack and destroy His Excellency, Godwin Obaseki.

Oshiomhole in the video erroneously stated that the local government councils were paying huge sums of money to Obaseki, and that is why they were suspended by Okpebholo.

Although no reasonable person takes Oshiomhole seriously, considering his intimidating profile as a blatant liar, it is yet necessary to put it on record that as usual, these careless comments from Oshiomhole are not different from all the lies and double speak which are clearly second nature to him.

He described Okpebholo as a man with minimum words and maximum wisdom but I believe Edo masses should be allowed to be the judge of that, but if all that have happened so far in the Okpebholo government are anything to go by, from the disgraceful outing in the State House of Assembly to the promise of several white elephant projects, then I think Oshiomhole’s verdict on Okpebholo’s performance so far is no different from his usual lies.

Meanwhile, It is now abundantly clear that the APC government which Oshiomhole and his illk broke all known electoral laws and regulations to enthrone in Edo State has now set aside the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and are enforcing their individual interests and caprices with the help of vile and violent thugs and other nonstate actors sponsored by Okpebholo.

Under Okpebholo’s leadership, the judgments of the Supreme Court, as well as State and Federal High Courts have been mindlessly disregarded. The advice of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu through the Attorney General of the Federation jettisoned, with thugs now moving from council to council in Edo State literarily with whips and dangerous weapons to enforce Okpebholo’s suspension of Local Government Chairmen despite the position of all the courts in the land.

We however have one warning for the perpetrators of the ongoing crisis in Edo State and that is: by the time the ravenous beast they are currently feeding with illegality attains full strength, it will need to consume both the victims and its masters, to quench it’s insatiable thirst for blood.

The wind currently blowing in Edo State is an ill wind, which will blow no one no good.
