Pensioners in Ogun State have appealed to Governor Dapo Abiodun to extend the Christmas and end of the year bonus to them.

The state government last week, gave the state civil servants and workforce bonus for the Christmas.

The state chapter of the Nigeria Union of Pensioners (NUP) in a letter to the governor signed by its Chairman, Alhaji Waheed Oloyede and Secretary, Comrade Bola Lawal, and made available to newsmen in Abeokuta, said the extension of the bonus would further enable them enjoy the bliss of seasonal celebration.

They however, appreciated the governor for the prompt payment of December pensions to them.

The NUP described the Christmas bonus to the state workforce as a proactive motivational gesture, saying that the act showed that the governor is a superhuman, loving and compassionate personality.

The statement read: “Your Excellency, this is to sincerely acknowledge and appreciate you for your kind gesture at ensuring the payment of December 2024 Pensions early enough for us to celebrate Christmas in our own little way.

“The Nigeria Union of Pensioners, Ogun State Council, also join the Ogun State Labour Centers (NLC, TUC and the JNC) at appreciating Your Excellency’s goodwill gesture with the provision of Christmas Bonus to the entire Ogun State Workforce, for them to enjoy the bliss of the Yuletide. A proactive motivational gesture. That shows the Super Humane, loving and compassionate personality in Your Excellency.

“Our dear benevolent governor, we, your aged brothers and sisters, vulnerable Senior Citizens, hereby make passionate appeal to Your Excellency in the spirit of the Yuletide and that of the approaching New Year, for such bonus consideration to be extended to all Ogun State Pensioners, to enable us to enjoy the bliss of the Seasonal celebration.
