Content, Fashion and Innovation Shines at African Creators Summit 2025
The second edition of the African Creators Summit, held on the 23rd of January, 2025, at the Balmoral Event Centre in Lagos, bringing together over 1,500 attendees for insightful conversations and vibrant cultural displays. With the theme “Building a Sustainable Ecosystem: Content as a Tool”, the summit explored the transformative power of content creation across industries, drawing creators, thought leaders and industry professionals from across the continent.
Powered by Apollo Creators Foundation, the summit was hosted by Nedu and Real Warri Pikin with some prominent guests like Ayo Adeagbo, SA Art, Culture and Creative Economy to the President of Nigeria, Mojisola Hunponu-Wusu, President Woodhall Capital Foundation and Comedian Bovi in attendance.
Throughout the summit, panel discussions provided valuable insights on sustainable content creation, ethical storytelling, and building structured careers. In one session, Aproko Doctor, Geena Foodies and Spice, Efenomen Ikhuoria Okoijie and The Visual Advocate discussed harnessing authenticity as creators to connect with audiences and stand out. “What you need to stay different is you,” noted The Visual Advocate, emphasizing the importance of originality in a crowded digital space.
Another session on healthy content creation featured Dr. Foy, Daddy Freeze, Daniel Ikuenobe and Malik Afegbua, who delved into the responsibility creators have to produce ethical, mindful content. “The story of what you are doing is as important as what you are doing,” said Daniel Ikuenobe, urging creators to focus on narratives that inspire and uplift.
The summit also tackled the business side of content, with speakers like Olufemi Oguntamu and Solafunmi Laelle, Nosa Omoregie and Tobi Alabi emphasizing the importance of structure, analytics, and management. “Virality doesn’t equate sustainability,” Olufemi noted, challenging creators to think beyond momentary success and focus on building long-term, impactful brands.
The final panel session focused on inclusion with Fari Elsysia, Ariyike Akinbobola, Nkubi and Emmanuela who spoke on breaking barriers and amplifying every voice.
A key highlight of the summit was the collaborative fashion show, a celebration of African talents and craftsmanship. This segment was curated by Latasha Lagos and it featured top creators styled by renowned Nigerian designers, showcasing the synergy between fashion and content. Brainjotter took to the stage in a look by Uche Nnaji , Kiekie was styled by Moofa Studio in a stunning red and black ensemble. Lasisi Elenu impressed in red traditional attire by On Point Clothing NG. Ghanaian comedian Waris looked regal in a fit from Vav Definition, While Layi Wasabi closed the show in I.N Official’s bold designs.
From conversations to the runway, the African Creators Summit 2025 highlighted the potential of Africa’s creative ecosystem to drive change and innovation.
