Fajusigbe Seeks More Support for Youths

At the Inspire to Excel event held recently in Lagos, Olufunke Fajusigbe, founder of Generation Nextz, emphasized the importance of supporting the younger generation.
“Our youths are doing well,” she said. “They’re trying. They’re trading internationally; they’re exporting and importing. They need to be led; they need to be supported, and they need to be encouraged. Someone needs to show them the road without too much drama.”

Fajusigbe was one of the speakers at the event organised by Abiola Kila Onalaja for young entrepreneurs, innovators and professionals. During her session, she outlined six key principles of entrepreneurship and leadership, including self-appreciation, discovering one’s talents, and following through to completion.

“Keep dreaming is the biggest message at Inspire to Excel for me,” she stated. “The next thing is to grow. You are here today, find something that is going to make you a better person by the end of the event. So dream, grow and achieve. Achievement for me is just accountability,” she added, reflecting on the event’s theme: Dream. Grow. Achieve.

Onalaja, the convener, shared how her own experience inspired the event.

“I’ve noticed that people struggle to succeed, and there’s only one common reason why. The reason is because there’s nobody to hold their hand. Having gone through that journey, I realized that if I had more guidance and more people to hold my hand along the way, I would have achieved my goals faster.”

The event also featured the Launch Pad Pitch Competition, where entrepreneurs showcased their ideas for a chance to win up to $1,000 in funding.

Other notable speakers included businesswoman and reality TV star Chioma Ikokwu, Professor Anthony Kila, and Director at Google West Africa Olumide Balogun among others.
