‘How DeBebs Artistic Exhibition Reveal Niger Delta Complexities’

The Convener, Niger Delta Mangrove Alliance Curates, Mr. Oriiz Onuwaje has described an art exhibition of paintings by Dr. John Edwin DeBebs with the theme ‘Intersection of World of Climate Change, the Mangrove and Art and noted that it reflects the cultural richness of the region and a beacon of hope.
Onwuaje while making an artistic analysis of DeBebs works said the painting as rendered through brush strokes and lush colors captures the complexities and the rich mangrove in the Niger Delta.
While noting that the Niger Delta mangrove forest as one of the world’s most ecologically precious jewels highlighted that some of its importance includes, Ecological Importance, Coastal Protection, Carbon Sequestration and its Economic Significance.
He said, “Dr. Edwin DeBebs, an acclaimed artist and environmental advocate, delves into the rich narratives of the Niger Delta mangroves in his long-awaited solo exhibition, his first in a remarkable 26 years.
“The Niger Delta stands as Africa’s largest wetland area and the world’s third largest mangrove forest, a breathtaking reservoir of biodiversity. Its diverse landscapes, ranging from shimmering wetlands to sun-kissed tidal flats, underscore the urgent call for conservation.
“This exhibition presents a rare opportunity to witness the enchanting fusion of art and environmental advocacy, showcasing over 30 stunning pieces by DeBebs that exhibit his exceptional creativity.
“Accompanying the exhibition is a catalogue filled with insights from esteemed art critics, delving into the stylistic and ideological
underpinnings of his work.
