WIME Awards Delegation Meets SLB Country Director to Promote Gender Diversity

In anticipation of the upcoming Women in Maritime and Energy Awards (WIMEAwards) 2024 on March 28, a delegation from WIMEAwards paid a courtesy call on the Country Director of SLB (Schlumberger) to discuss gender diversity in the maritime and energy industries and strengthen collaborative efforts towards empowering women in these critical sectors.

The meeting emphasized the importance of recognizing and celebrating the contributions of women professionals while exploring opportunities for mentorship, leadership development, and capacity building.

Speaking on behalf of WIMEAwards, Dr. Chizoba Anyika, deputy Director at NIMASA and Chairperson of WIME Advisory Board acknowledged SLB’s commitment to fostering a diverse and inclusive workforce.

“The upcoming WIME Awards aim to honor trailblazing women who are driving change in maritime and energy. SLB’s ongoing support for gender equality is commendable, and we look forward to future collaborations that will create more opportunities for women in these industries,” Anyika said.

SLB’s Country Director, Dr. Nosa Omorodion, reiterated the company’s dedication to advancing gender inclusion.

The courtesy visit comes as final preparations are underway for the WIME Awards 2025, set to take place on March 28. The event will honor outstanding women professionals and organizations championing gender diversity in the maritime and energy sectors.

The meeting concluded with discussions on potential partnerships, sponsorships, and long-term initiatives that will further enhance women’s representation in STEM, technical roles, and leadership within these industries.

In attendance were Advisory board members, Mrs. Abiola Soremekun, Mrs Vivian Chimezie-Azubuike and Executive Director, Tunbosun Afolayan.
