CIPM Inducts New Members, Calls for Excellence in Public Service HR Management

The Vice President of CIPM, Mrs. Chidinma Obiejesi, FCIPM; the  Aragbiji of Iragbiji, His Royal Majesty Oba Rasheed Ayotunde Olabomi (JP), FCIPM; the President and Chairman of the Governing Council, Mallam Ahmed Ladan Gobir, FCIPM, fnli; the National Treasurer of CIPM, Mrs. Ogochukwu Egbuonu, FCIPM; the Registrar/Chief Executive, Ms. Oluwatoyin Naiwo, FCIPM; and the Guest Speaker, Mr. Samuel Olu Laluwoye, MCIPM, mni, at the 62nd Specialised Induction Ceremony of the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management of Nigeria (CIPM), held recently in Osun State, Nigeria.

Osogbo, Nigeria – The Chartered Institute of Personnel Management of Nigeria (CIPM) has successfully conducted its 62nd Specialised Induction Ceremony, welcoming a total of 188 new members through its Executive and Practitioners’ Routes. The event, themed “Creating Excellent Employee Experience in Public Service,” was held  recently in Osogbo, Osun State.

The induction ceremony was graced by distinguished personalities, including the renowned Aragbiji of Iragbiji, His Royal Majesty Oba Rasheed Ayotunde Olabomi (JP) FCIPM, who served as the Royal Father of the Day.

Delivering the keynote address, Mr. Samuel Olu Laluwoye, MCIPM, mni, a seasoned HR expert and Retired Permanent Secretary in Osun State, extensively shared his experiences as a CIPM member and underscored the importance of leadership responsibilities in professional development. In his speech, he remarked:

“Leadership in human resource management must transcend traditional boundaries. We must strive to create a public service environment where employees feel valued, motivated, and empowered to deliver excellence. The future of our workforce depends on how well we shape policies that foster inclusivity, engagement, and continuous professional growth.”

The 62nd Specialised Induction saw the induction of 24 professionals through the Executive Route and 164 through the Practitioners’ Route, reinforcing CIPM’s commitment to developing competent HR professionals equipped to drive excellence in people management across various sectors.

The President & Chairman of the Governing Council of the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management of Nigeria,  Mallam Ahmed Ladan Gobir, FCIPM, fnli, delivered an inspiring address, emphasizing the significance of HR leadership and the Institute’s global recognition. He stated:

“Today is a monumental day, and we are excited to be here in Osun, the State of the Living Spring, a place that symbolises endless potential and boundless prosperity. Just as Osun is known for its springs that never run dry, CIPM is also a constant source of knowledge, innovation, and excellence for HR professionals. By becoming members of CIPM, you are stepping into a powerful network that will nurture, empower, and propel you to new heights in HR leadership.”

Mallam Gobir further highlighted the relevance of the theme, “Creating Excellent Employee Experience in Public Service,” stressing the need for employee well-being, engagement, and continuous learning in shaping a world-class public service. He added:

“As Richard Branson once said, ‘Take care of your employees, and they will take care of your business.’ The same applies to the public sector; when we invest in our people, we build a more effective, motivated, and high-performing workforce.”

Oba Olabomi, in his remarks as the Royal Father of the Occasion, encouraged the newly inducted members to uphold the values of efficiency and good governance in their professional endeavors. He further stated that professional leadership should enhance the recruitment process in public service to ensure a strong succession of quality human resources.

With the successful induction of 188 new members, CIPM continues to drive excellence in people management, reinforcing its mission to promote professionalism, knowledge, and best HR practices across all sectors. The Institute looks forward to welcoming its new inductees to Africa’s largest HR event, the 57th International Conference and Exhibition (ICE) in Abuja.
