NDSF: Edo Tasks its Contingent to be Good Ambassadors in Uyo

Executive Chairman of the Edo State Sports Commission,  Hon Amadin Desmond Enabulele, has charged the state’s athletes to the Niger Delta Sports Festival in Uyo to be worthy ambassadors. 

Speaking at the send forth for the Uyo-bound contingent at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin City yesterday before their departure, Enabulele charged the athletes to be at their best throughout the duration of the competitions. 

He assured them that they were  in safe hands with Hon Donald Okogbe, Chairman of the Edo  State House of Assembly Committee on Sports as the leader of the delegation. 

Hon Okogbe is assisted by the Executive Director, Edo South, Hon Baldwin Bazuaye, Executive Director, Sports Development and Operations, Mrs Chikere Sabina and the Permanent Secretary of the Edo State Sports Commission, Mrs Efe P.A. Amenze.

Enabulele said: “As you go to Uyo for the Niger Delta Sports Festival, remember you are representing Edo State. Go there and always be at your best. Everything you need for the trip has been provided by the organisers.  You will start getting your allowances now. Whatever be the challenges as we embark on this journey, let the leaders of the delegation know. Go there to compete fairly and come back home with laurels,” Enabulele encouraged the athletes..

He conveyed Governor Monday Okpebholo’s goodwill message to the athletes, urging them to take advantage of the opportunity to evaluate their level of preparation  for the National Sports Festival scheduled to hold in Ogun State in May this year.

The Edo State Sports Commission chairman commended the sponsors of the sports  festival, the  Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) for its  huge support towards sports development in the region and country.

Edo contingent made up of 313 athletes, 56 coaches and 12 state delegates left Benin for Uyo, Akwa Ibom. The Edo athletes will be competing in all the 17 sports events at the Niger Delta Sports Festival.
