In a grand celebration, Women Connect marked its 5th anniversary with a powerful event that brought together women from all walks of life. The Women Connect Hangout 5.0, held at Imperial Hall in Lagos, was a momentous occasion that highlighted the platform’s dedication to informing, inspiring, and empowering women.

The event, which took place on Saturday, March 29, 2025, was attended by a diverse group of women who were eager to network, learn, and celebrate their achievements. The theme of the event, “For all Women and Girls who Accelerate Action,” was a call to action that resonated deeply with the attendees.

According to the convener, Mrs. Onyinlola Sale, Women Connect has been at the forefront of empowering women over the past five years. “We have been known for inspiring, empowering, and informing women,” she said. “We have been touching lives, making an impact in society, and showcasing what women are doing. Women, keep pushing, you are not alone. Continue to be strong, have a community, and continue to hold on to that community.”

The event featured a range of activities, including networking opportunities, exhibitions, award ceremonies, and masterclasses on health, sex, beauty, and business. Attendees were also treated to free massages and gifts. The exhibition program, which honored outstanding female entrepreneurs and leaders who have excelled in their fields, was a highlight of the event.

Dr. Folasade Coker, Director of Informal Sector and Special Duties at the Lagos State Internal Revenue Service, emphasised the importance of tax compliance among women. She encouraged financial responsibilities and urged women to support one another in their careers and businesses.

Wellness and lifestyle coach Victoria Akingbade also took the stage, inviting women to prioritize their health and well-being. “Women, you matter. You are important. Don’t let anything bring you down. Your health is important,” she said. Akingbade’s message resonated deeply with the attendees, who were eager to learn more about maintaining a healthy work-life balance.

Other notable speakers included Bukky Latunji, a former general manager at Zenith Bank, who encouraged women to believe in themselves and have a success mindset. “Believe that you can do whatever it is that you have set your mind to do,” she said. “You have to always have a success mindset to grow.”

“One word I’d like to leave today is that word empowerment. We should keep empowering women. It’s a programme for women, and the importance of it is that we have charged ourselves to keep supporting women. So I tag it, women supporting women”, ” she said.

The event was a resounding success, with attendees leaving feeling inspired, motivated, and empowered.
