Strengthening the Ties That Bind Africa and the Caribbean

…NTT Global Destinations CEO Concludes Strategic Caribbean Engagement Tour
Elizabeth Agboola, CEO of NTT Global Destinations, has concluded a high-impact, multi-country Caribbean tour across Jamaica, and Guyana, reinforcing the company’s dynamic role as a strategic bridge between Africa and the Caribbean.
The visit focused on advancing partnerships in tourism, trade, financial services, fintech, the creative industries, and diaspora engagement, while reaffirming NTT Global’s long-standing commitment to African-Caribbean integration.
NTT Global Destinations made history by organizing the first-ever direct charter flight from Nigeria to Jamaica in December 2020, a major milestone in African-Caribbean connectivity. Building on this achievement, Agboola’s recent tour included key discussions with airline executives, tourism boards, development finance institutions, and government leaders, to explore a sustainable, twice-weekly direct
air route between Nigeria and Jamaica. Strong interest from Afreximbank-aligned partners suggests the route is both feasible and commercially promising.
In Jamaica, Agboola participated in EXPO Jamaica 2025, where she explored high-potential collaborations such as a unique African-Caribbean beauty blend, combining Jamaican castor oil and African shea butter. She also attended the 70th Anniversary activities of the Jamaica Tourist Board, and met with key government and private sector leaders to strengthen frameworks for tourism exchange, cultural diplomacy, and cross-continental business development.
Her visit included a working lunch with the Honourable Earl Jarrett, the CEO of JN Bank, where they discussed synergies in financial services, fintech, tourism, and aviation.
The Caribbean visit concluded in Guyana, where Agboola participated in a familiarization tour hosted by the Guyana Tourism Authority (GTA) experiencing firsthand the natural wonders of Guyana that many
have only read about. Highlights included a breathtaking trip along the Essequibo River and a visit to the majestic Kaieteur Falls, reaffirming Guyana’s immense potential as a nature and adventure destination.
While in Guyana, she also held high-level meetings with tourism officials and regional representatives to explore joint initiatives and market expansion strategies, to further NTT Global’s mission to be the leading African-CARICOM connector in travel, trade, and cultural exchange.
These efforts directly support Afreximbank’s strategic recognition of the African diaspora as the sixth region of the continent, paving the way for stronger global integration and shared prosperity. With a growing number of CARICOM nations deepening partnerships with Afreximbank, the foundation for long-term collaboration is already being laid.
“This mission is about creating access, visibility, and value for Africa and the Caribbean alike,” said Agboola. “We’re not just talking connections we are
building infrastructure, closing deals, and turning bold ideas into sustainable realities.”
As Jamaica prepares to assume the CARICOM Chairmanship in July 2025 and in advance of the first CARICOM-AU Summit in September 2025, NTT Global’s leadership and legacy-building work will continue to shape a deeper, more interconnected future between Africa and the Caribbean through tourism, trade, finance, and culture.
